BERLIN PUB CRAWLS

If you're interested in trying a bunch of different brews while visiting Berlin, one of the following pub crawls is sure to please.

In addition to providing free samples, you'll also have the opportunity to experience the different cultural scenes at each pub.

This section will include all of the information you need to pick a great Berlin pub crawl. If you're still not sold on the options below, check here for additional pub crawls in Berlin.

Berlin Pub Crawl

This 5-hour pub crawl begins at 8 p.m. in a central Berlin location. Your guide is there to take you to four different bars, each with a different scene – cocktail lounges, bars, pubs, and clubs.

Your guide will facilitate mingling and mixing with other guests.

Drinks, however, are not included in the price. You will get a free welcome shot at each stop and drink specials all evening.  This company tends to attract the backpacker crowd.

Reviews are mixed  - overall they have a review rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor and Get Your Guide (see the reviews).

Comments range broadly from "Don't bother" to "This is a must-do in Berlin!!!"

Depending on what kind of night you are looking for, this may suit your needs. The emphasis appears to be on drinking and dancing and more drinking - but it is a pub crawl after all!

  • When: Monday - Sunday at 20:00
  • Meeting Point: on the steps of the entrance to Oranienburger Strasse S-Bahn station
  • Cost: €18 per person and includes 4 shots, drink specials at each stop and VIP entry to the Matrix nightclub.

The Original Berlin Pub Crawl

Original Pub Crawl

Dubbing themselves the “biggest pub crawl in Berlin”, this is a tour for partiers.

You start your evening at a cozy bar, then visit three or more drinking spots, including cocktail and shisha bars, electro lounges, and rock and steampunk bars.

The 6-hour tour concludes at one of Berlin’s biggest clubs.

Reviews Guests of the tour have given it mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, with 30% of reviewers saying the tour was the "worst", "terrible" and an "awful experience!  Zero value for money.”

However, the other 70% of participants in the pub crawl said that it was well-organized, had lots of fun, and that guides were friendly.

If exploring Berlin while getting a big buzz, this tour seems ideal and reasonably priced.

You then depart and visit 3 more local pubs/ clubs where you will get free shots and drink discounts.

A nice cost-saver is that all destinations are within walking distance so you won’t need to travel on public transportation.

Reviews are very positive about the quality guides (read the reviews here).

Anti-Pub Crawl: Alternative Nightlife

666 Anti Pub Crawl

Seven nights a week, Alternative Tours goes against the grain and takes small groups out to the less obvious bars, so that you can blend in with the locals.

Over the course of 5 hours, your guide leads you to offbeat drinking venues: a hippie-themed bar, a ping-pong bar, an absinthe bar, a punk-goth-horror bar, and a large industrial club.

The emphasis is on mingling and exploring, rather than getting loaded on booze. For the price, you do get a reasonable amount to drink and you are free to purchase more at each locale.

Because group size is limited, this is a great tour if you are a solo traveler as you are probably more likely to bond with your fellow travelers.

ReviewsThis tour gets excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and Viator (see the reviews).

The enthusiastic comments make it pretty clear that this is a good choice for a pub crawl, even for those who don't usually like pub crawls!

  • When: Tuesday, Thurs-Sat at 21:00
  • Meeting Point: Old CCCP Bar, Torstraße 58
  • Cost: €14 per person, free entry to bars and clubs, free shots

Not one review said that the tour wasn't worth the steep price.

On the contrary, reviewers felt like they got their money's worth as well as a night to remember.

The night tour is sure to provide you with the same high quality of their guide's knowledge while making sure the ride is safe and fun as you explore Berlin from a different perspective.

BERLIN NIGHT BOAT TOURS AND CRUISES

If you are planning to buy a tourist card, boat tours are sometimes included in the attractions in your package, and most certainly get you a discount on boat tours, so double check before buying a boat ticket.

If you are thinking of getting a tourist card, but not sure if it is right for you, see our post, Berlin Pass vs Welcome Card vs City Tour Card?

We also compare the numerous boat tours and cruises in Berlin that you can take day or night.

Berlin Evening Cruise by Stern und Kreiss

Like most evening cruises in major cities around the world, this Berlin evening cruise is a casual way to get an overview of the city's highlights from a different perspective.

The cruise, operated by Stern und Kreiss, travels along the Spree river and canals riding by major attractions and famous buildings such as the ReichstagMuseum Island, and the Berlin Cathedral.

There is a variety of fairly good food available on board at reasonable prices. You can also pre-order your meal when booking tickets, but some reviewers say to wait until you are on the boat.

Reviews are mixed and this tour has a 3.5 out of 5 stars rating on TripAdvisor and Get Your Guide (see the reviews), most complaints being about difficulty in finding the departure point.

Other issues were the duration of the tour being too long and language challenges with the commentary, which seems odd given that the company offers tours that provide guides in English as well as a written version in English.

Just make sure to choose which you would like during your ticket checkout. Generally, this seems like a nice excursion, especially in nice weather and the price is good, especially if you are a family as tickets are discounted for children under 15 and children 6 and under are free.

  • When: Fri - Sat at 18:30 (6:30 pm)
  • Duration: is 2.5 hours
  • Departure/return point: Boat harbor/landing stage at Friedrichstrasse / Reichstagufer.
  • Cost: €29.90 adults 15 years and up; €15.00 children 7-14 years; free children 0-6.
  • More information or to book.

Reviews - This boat tour operator has very good reviews on TripAdvisor coming in at 4 stars, though this rating includes reviews for their many daytime tours as well.

When: Every Friday at 18:15 & 19:00. Check schedule for dates
Cost: €30.  Discounts on tickets for children (6-14 years) 50% discount, with a Welcome Card,  adults receive 25% off ticket only, not meal.

Kayak Berlin's Night Tour

A night kayak tour in Berlin probably didn’t cross your mind when making your itinerary for your trip, but this tour is certainly a unique way to experience the city in a manner that most locals haven’t enjoyed.

Kayaking is fairly easy even for a beginner and especially when you have guides to direct you.

Your guide will also share insight into the history of the area you travel through.

The route is 2 hours (5 km distance) and you will be traveling via small canals through the neighborhoods of Kreuzberg and Neukölln, two popular areas for great nightlife.

Bring a change of clothing so you can hop out of your semi-wet clothes and change into your nighttime attire and enjoy the local nightlife after the tour is done.

Reviews - Though there aren't hundreds of reviews, it's understandable since this is a niche tour. Reviews online, however, are excellent, most people citing the pleasure of seeing some of Berlin from the water.

  • When:  Tours run on various nights.
  • Cost: 25 € per person; 22 € reduced for students and private groups of more than 10 people.

ALMOST-FREE BUS TOURS

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to get around Berlin is by using public bus routes 100 and 200.

These routes include double-decker buses that will take you right to many notable sites in the city and within walking distance of others.

At a price of only €3 per 2-hour ticket, you can easily ride around and see some of the most popular locations in the area during both day and night.

The best part about the 100 and 200 lines is that they run 24 hours a day.

This means that you can easily tour Berlin by bus even after the sun goes down, allowing you to experience a different side of the city.

If you're planning to travel around Berlin for more than two hours, you may want to consider getting an all-day ticket for €10. Although it's a little more expensive, this option will make your trip a lot easier.

Rather than purchasing a new ticket every few hours, you can just get one ticket and use it for the entire day.

Consider combining this outing with our self-guided tour of East Berlin or Central Berlin for a relatively low price and informative trip through the city.

For more information, check our post about how to use the public transport in Berlin. You'll also find more details about lines 100 and 200 on our Berlin bus tours post

Festival of Lights

Festival of Lights

While throughout the rest of the year, the city's main attractions are lit, this special festival is eagerly anticipated by locals and visitors alike.

You may prefer to take a bus tour, especially if you are on a short trip and don't have much time. Plus it makes for a nice structured evening plan.

You could potentially use lines 100 and 200 to reach many of the sites which celebrate this festival.
